Description

I am pleased to say that I have managed to get a new scope from some inheritance money from Mum.       I decided to get a fast Newtonian running at f2.8, with a 5" mirror. The light gathering power of this scope is amazing, having only got my first clear slot last night, during this awful spell of weather. Even a 5s sub before it was even dark, showed up some of the detail of the nebula! This image comprises of 125 subs each at 1 minute long - this equates to 2 hours and 5 minutes. I have one question if someone would not mind helping me please. There is a slight double diffraction spike on the star 52 Cygni, in the western veil, and I was wondering if this was due to bad focussing or collimation. This is a tough scope to focus, so I wondered if it might be that, as I think the collimation was good?! Anyway this scope completes my set, giving me a wide field of view, and almost getting the entire Veil in the FOV. I hope to get a break in the weather tomorrow and complete this with a HOO... Thanks everyone.
